It's quite beautiful. But you do need to do more than the instructions say to get it to be sturdy. My husband bought stainless steel hardware so rust wouldn't form, and he used quikrete to bolster the post in the hole, and added a 12" square x 3" high quikrete base. He built a 2x4 wood square (and cut it down to 3") to build the base, which enabled him to make sure the base was even with our walkway and the street - he just kept moving the wood square until it was right, then filled it with quikrete, waited overnight for the quikrete to harden, then removed the wood square. So the post is very stable and doesn't move. However, even though we bolted the mailbox down onto the plate with four bolts, the mailbox still doesn't sit firmly, it rocks a bit when you open and close it.Also, you have to attach the mailbox base plate before setting the post, or it won't be even with the street and you'll have to drill new holes. Luckily another reviewer mentioned that (thanks!), so we were prepared. And none of the screws fit the decorative pieces. We were buying stainless steel ones anyway, but be forewarned that the hardware won't be sufficient.I'm only taking off 1 star for all that, because I love it anyway, it's beautiful.Nice post, but they did not include screws that match the threads of the decorative base. Very frustrating to not be able to complete a project because the manufacturer neglected to include the appropriate hardware to complete. I took the base to a local hardware store in hope to find some screws to match the threads. They could not. The hardware store is going to re-tap the threads with screws that should work.I received this base the other day and promptly sank it into a cement form with concrete, already having attached the mailbox from Architectural Mailboxes that I picked up at Lowes earlier this past week. All seemed to be complete, but then I realized that I still had a lovely base to attach. I grabbed the appropriate phillips screwdriver size (I have many different sizes) and started to turn the screws in. I noticed that they were really hard to screw, and I first thought that I had cross-threaded them, but upon inspection, all the threads on both the screw and the base appeared ok (I'm an Engineer, and I know how to look for this). So, I figured I was just being weak about it, and forced the issue. This worked on three (3) of the four (4) screws, until I got to the last one. It was this last one that was coming alone better than the rest, but I couldn't close the gap for the 2 base halves to meet. I turned and turned and then the screw head sheared off. So I now have a base that's being held together by 3 screws instead of 4, and the 4th I'm going to have to use an easy-out in order to get it free...not today. My wife was happy to see the mailbox complete, but she noticed that the paint was incredibly thin on the base, and that some of the paint was coming off already. The product overall is good, but I think some quality control on the paint and the tapping of the screws is required. I'll probably fix all this on my own, getting some black spray paint and removing the screw remnants to then replace the screw. All my neighbors seem to have the same flimsy aluminum posts bought at Lowes or Walmart. A couple of fender taps from the post-person and they're damaged. I wanted something that stood out. Looks great and works well with a larger replacement mailbox. Only issue was that the supplied screws would not screw all the way in to attach the two halves of the post cover. Manufacturer sent an entire replacement when all I needed was the right screws. Same problem all over again. A trip to Home Depot for the correct size screws fixed the problem. Top tip: Do a dry run attaching the two post covers before installation. Don't force the screws or they freeze up and good luck trying to remove them.At first, it seems that the finish did not look so durable and it was a bit glossier than I hoped for. However, looking at it from a distance after the installation, it is not bad. Hoping that my lawn guys do not damage this, I put rocks around it.I wanted the post to be 45" tall from ground because it seems that postmen prefer higher height and that is the maximum height, according to USPS guide line. However, our installer told me that it will not be very stable if I make it that high, because the post is not tall and thick enough. Therefore, he added some cement inside the post, too, to make it stable.I used this with Architectural Mailboxes Model #: 5591B-10 from Lowe's, which is half price of other similar style Architectural Mailboxes mailboxes offered through Amazon. In addition, the trim matches the mailbox color so, in my opinion, it is even better. The mailbox has a magnetic to close and my postman loves it. My neighbors complimented that the combination looks much more expensive than I paid for.I noticed that a reviewer commented that this was made in USA. However, I ordered 2 different finishes and they were both made in China, which does not matter to me for something like mailbox. I just want to inform the update.
